Goth. Health Lab

On Wednesday, Sept. 20, members of the sophomore class toured healthcare locations in Gothenburg to gain an understanding of the potential career possibilities within the field.

Fourteen students visited Dan Kries at Gothenburg Discount Pharmacy, Dr. James Graff at Gothenburg Dental, met with physical therapist Kandace Davis and occupational therapist Stacy Reynolds over a cup of coffee at Stories, Kristin Rickertsen and Austin Fletcher and the team at The Remedy Clinic and got a glimpse into the lab, health information systems, imaging, acute care, information technology, quality control and spoke with providers at Gothenburg Health before ending the day with Tim Strauser at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel.

Students who took part in this tour identified the healthcare field as a potential career path through conversation with Mr. Wiggins. Later this year, all sophomores will partake in a career seminar, followed by career tours in the community in the career field they feel they may be interested in pursuing.

Other tours planned for the 2023-24 school year include Agriculture, Business/IT and Manufacturing/Mechanics.

Those interested in being a part of a career tour or welcoming a student for a career shadow should contact the GHS Counseling Administrative Assistant, Rebecca Steward at rebecca.steward@goswedes.org.
