2023 HOCO Cadidates

October 9 kicks of Homecoming week at GHS, and this year's theme, as planned by the GHS Student Council is Screams and Dreams - A Haunted Homecoming.

Students may show their school spirit throughout Spirit Week – with a horror movie tie-in!  Be sure all outfits are school-appropriate and follow the dress code!

  • The theme for Monday is Nightmare on Elm Street - also known as Pajama Day!
  • The theme for Tuesday is The Shining - Twin Day! If you and your twin look scary, you could possibly get extra points from the judges!
  • The theme for Wednesday is The Children of the Corn! Dress in your best western attire!
  • The theme for Thursday is Lights Out! Keep the competition in the dark by wearing all black!
  • On Friday the 13th, wear your favorite Halloween costume!

The best dressed students from each day will be selected and recognized by selected administrators with free entry into the dance!

Due to the weather forecast, the Homecoming Parade will not take place and Friday’s school day will follow a 2:30 p.m. dismissal schedule for 7-12th grade only.

Dudley Elementary will maintain a regular bell schedule.

When students are dismissed at 2:30 p.m., they will proceed to the North Gym for the Homecoming Pep Rally.

All students must have all detentions served by the afternoon of Friday afternoon on October 13 or they will not be permitted to attend the Homecoming dance.

The Swedes kickoff against Minden at the Homecoming Football game on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. with the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen following the game. The 2023 Homecoming Candidates are Ashlyn Richeson, Clara Evert, Aubrey O'Hare, Caleb Thomalla, Trey Stevens and Tucker Keith.

Following the crowning, 9-12 grade students are invited to attend the Homecoming Dance. Doors open a 9:30 p.m. and close at 10:30 with the dance ending at midnight. Admission is $5 per person and attire is semi-formal - no jeans or hats. No outside food or drink will be permitted and out-of-town dates must be signed up in the high school media center by the end of the school day on Oct. 12.
