The Swede boys' cross country team claimed its second state championship in as many years on Oct. 20 at the NSAA State Cross Country Championships in Kearney.
Freshman Tyler Hetz took second place, Parker Graves was eighth Ethan Olsen took the 15th place medal and Yariel Gaeta took 25th. Nate Sage crossed the line in 44th place while Evan Pelzer took 55th. The placement of the top four Swede runners earned them the Class C State Title.
Two Swede girls also competed Oct. 20 at the State Championships. The freshman duo of Kiarra Jonas and Adeline Pinkston took on their first NSAA State event and competed extraordinarily well. Pinkston took 21st place while Jonas took 34th in a field of 120 runners.
