2025 Homecoming Candidates

The GHS Student Council is excited to sponsor Homecoming 2025 – Light Up the 'Makers! Because we have so many activities and events next week, we know everything is going to be LIGHTS OUT and we invite YOU to SHINE with Swede Pride!

Homecoming Royalty Candidates announced on September 26 include McKena Gilligan, Lindly Anderson, Kaitlyn Hecox, Logan Feather, Tunney Grigg, and Boone Tederman.

Show your school spirit with the traditional Spirit Week – with a spotlight on the Swede Life being the Best Life!  Be sure all of your outfits are school-appropriate and follow the dress code!

The theme for Monday is Glow Party, and our school spirit is shining brighter than ever. Wear those neon colors loud and proud because together we’re going to light up the Haymakers all week long!!

Tuesday is Decade Day, and no matter if you’re rocking bell-bottoms, leg warmers, or 2000s bling, our school spirit shines through every era. Junior high, you'll dress from the 1960's; freshmen, you'll throw back to the 1970's, sophomores are back to the 1980's; juniors, you get to wear 1990's gear, and seniors, you can raid your parents' closets for stuff from Y2K 2000's!

The theme for Wednesday is Superstar Day.  Step into the spotlight and show off your spirit dressing up like your favorite celebrity, because our team is ready to light up the Haymakers like true superstars!

Yeehaw and cheers, everyone! The theme for Thursday is Cowboy vs. Country Club Day, and whether you’re stomping in boots or shining in pearls, bring on the glow! Let’s blaze past the competition and light up the Haymakers on any turf!

On Friday, wear your cardinal and white with pride! Together, our spirit is unstoppable—and, under the bright lights, we’re going to light up the Haymakers once and for all! Swedes, the best dressed from each day will be selected and recognized by selected administrators with free entry into the dance!

We are excited to have the traditional Homecoming Parade next Friday afternoon! Friday’s school day will follow a 1:30 dismissal schedule. At that time, classes will finalize their float decorations on 13th Street, right outside the media center. Floats will line up at 1:45 and the parade will start at 2:00.  Following the parade, students will go directly to the North Gym for the pep rally at approximately 2:30.

The Homecoming football game is Friday, October 3rd against the Cozad Haymakers. Following the game, the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned on the field. The dance will follow the game in the elementary gym from 9:30pm until Midnight.

Admission for the dance is $5 per person.  Doors will be closed at 10:30. Attire is semi-formal - no jeans, no hats. No outside food or drink will be permitted. If you are bringing an out-of-town or out-of-school guest, you need to submit the Google Form to sign them up – completed forms are due by the end of school Thursday.

All Homecoming activities are sponsored by the GHS Student Council.
