Gothenburg High School's Coronation week kicked off on February 2, with daily themes to get students in the spirit to "Go for the Gold."
This year's Royalty Candidates include Amaya Carlson, Ellie Wyatt, Aubrey Hall, Mavrix Butterfield, Jax Rickersen, and Axel Jorgenson.
Class Representatives include freshmen Kale Strauser and Kinley Foster, sophomores Isayah Pracht and Briony Aden, and juniors Braeden Ehlers and Zoe Beveridge
They Olympics-type theme days include:
Monday, Feb. 2: Gather up your tribe and dress alike for "Bobsled Team Day."
Tuesday, Feb. 3: "Hit the Slopes" and wear your best winter gear OR your favorite winter sports jersey.
Wednesday, Feb. 4: "Curling Day" - our favorite Olympic Sport. (Hair)Do it up with a crazy hair day!
Thursday, Feb. 5: "Pack like a Champion" and carry your books in anything EXCEPT a backpack.
Friday, Feb. 6: Closing Ceremonies, where teams celebrate success - wear your best Swede apparel!
Students are encouraged to follow the school dress code and pay attention to their choices. Stay away from attire that may be insensitive or inappropriate. Refer to posters around the school or ask a Student Council member if there are any questions.
The week-long celebration will culminate in the Coronation Ceremony Saturday night immediately following the boys' basketball game against Minden. This includes the introduction of seniors and class representatives and the crowning of the new Coronation King and Queen.
The Coronation Dance will follow the cermeony in the elementary gym from 9 p.m. - 12 a.m. Admission is $5 per person. Doors will be closed at 10 p.m. Out -of- town and out -of-school dates need to be signed up by the end of the day Wednesday, Feb. 4 and completed forms need ot be returned by the end of the day Thursday, Feb. 5. With any questions, see Mrs. Long. This event is semi-formal, so no jeans and no hats. No outside food or drink is permitted and all students will be checked at the breathalyzer station before students enter the dance.
