For the first time in Gothenburg High School history, the Swede girls and boys basketball teams have punched their respective tickets to the Nebraska State Basketball tournament.
This year marks the 12th appearance since 1983 on the State Basketball stage for the Lady Swedes, having earned Runner-Up honors in 1983, 1987, and 1997 and securing a 4th place finish in 2025.
The Gothenburg boys have earned their 24th trip to Lincoln since 1911. They secured a Championship in Class B in 1962 and a Runner Up in Class B in 1928.
The Lady Swedes tip off against the Ogallala Indians on Thursday, March 5 at 10:45 a.m. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
