College application season is officially here! We want to make the process as simple and stress-free as possible for our seniors.
On Friday, September 25, we will host Apply2College Day during Senior English classes. Seniors will have dedicated time to work on and submit college applications with support available to help answer questions and guide them through the process.
To make the most of our time together, seniors should have the following ready before Apply2College Day:
Review Your Transcript
Before the event, you will receive a copy of your unofficial high school transcript. Please review it ahead of time so you have your GPA and class rank available when completing applications.
Know Your Social Security Number
Some college applications require your Social Security number for identification and financial aid purposes. Please have this information available.
Make a List of Schools
Have an idea of which colleges, universities, or trade schools you would like to apply to.
Even if you have already applied to your first-choice school—or even your second-choice school—have another option in mind! Applying to multiple schools can help keep your options open.
Prepare an Activities & Honors List
Make a list of your extracurricular activities, leadership experiences, volunteer work, awards, and employment history. Some colleges, particularly out-of-state schools, may ask for this information. It will also be helpful when completing scholarship applications later in the year.
Be Prepared for Application Fees
Many Nebraska colleges offer application fee waivers, while some out-of-state schools may charge an application fee. If a fee is required, you may need a credit or debit card to pay.
Fee waivers may also be available for students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals, so be sure to check your eligibility.
Know Your Login Information
If you have already created accounts through platforms such as the Common App or individual college application portals, make sure you know your usernames and passwords.
