The Gothenburg High School Student Council has planned an action-packed spirit week to celebrate 2026 Homecoming.
The queen candidates for 2026 include Grace Evert, Aubrey Cross, and Amayia Carlson. The king candidates are Braden Ehlers, Tyler Hetz, and Blake Rickertsen.
Students are encouraged to keep all clothing school-appropriate.
On Friday, October 2, 7-12 grade students will be released at 1:30 p.m. to prepare for the homecoming parade, that will wind through downtown Gothenburg. The parade will step off at approximately 2 p.m., followed by a pep-rally in the GHS North Gym.
The Swedes host the Chase County Longhorns at 7 p.m. on October 2. At the conclusion of the football game, the 2026 Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned, followed by the Homecoming dance in the elementary gym.
Doors will close at 10:30 p.m. and the dance will conclude at midnight. Students will be subject to a breath test on the way into the dance. Please, no jeans or hats - this is a semi-formal event.
