We’ve got great news to share about student achievement across Nebraska, and right here at Gothenburg Public Schools!

The Nebraska Department of Education recently released the statewide 2026 ACT results, and the data speaks for itself:

  • 100% Participation: Nebraska tests 100% of high school graduates as part of state assessments.

  • Top-Tier Performance: Nebraska’s average composite score of 18.8 easily outpaces the national average (18.2) among states that test all students. Only two states with 100% participation scored higher!

  • Highlights: High marks across the board, including strong performance in Reading (19.2) and Math (18.8).

What’s Ahead?

While the science portion has become optional nationally, Nebraska will continue requiring it as part of our state assessment to ensure a complete, well-rounded picture of student achievement. Preliminary data shows encouraging progress, and we can’t wait to share our local updates with you soon!

Thank you to our dedicated teachers, staff, families, and our hard-working students for keeping Nebraska near the top!
