Congratulations to Gothenburg Public Schools for receiving the TeamMates "Honored Business of the Year" award!

We had a busy morning at Swede Branch Bank and enjoyed our 1st Community partner! Our students are growing their accounts!

It was a fun morning with Demoine Adams sharing an enthusiastic message to strive for excellence but more importantly to always give your best effort! We are all bringing our "A Game"as we finish the school year!

This week we have a special new addition to the Swede Branch Flatwater Bank. A "Community Partner" will be giving each student who makes a deposit on 4/3/24 an additional $1.00 in their account. Thank you to Malcom, Nelson, & Windrum LLC for being our 1st Community Partner!

On Wednesday 3/27, GPS will have a regular school day, with a dismissal at 3:30.
(NO early out)

There's SNOW better time to read a book! Whether your children are curled up with a book on the couch, by a window with a view of the snow, or in a creatively structured fort, we believe photos of these moments would capture the power of reading and spread JOY to others. These pictures would remind us of the importance of literacy and learning, even on unexpected days off. I'm eager to see our Dudley students immersed in the magic of reading!

Due to continued road closures, there will be NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, March 26th.

Many young artists, families, and friends gathered at the State Capitol on March 23rd for the annual Youth Art Month Celebration and Exhibit. Student artists were recognized, received a certificate, and took their art pieces home. The exhibit was on display from March 9-23 where thousands of Capitol visitors as well as State Senators viewed the work.
Congratulations to the following students (and their teachers) for representing Gothenburg Public Schools!
Elayna M.(10th grade)
Addison M. (10th grade)
Emma M. (6th grade)
Cassidy R. (6th grade) - not pictured
Kayden F. (3rd grade)
Hunter B. (2nd grade)

I asked ChatGPT for a fun little jingle...enjoy! :)
The groundhog said, "Spring is near,
No more winter, have no fear!"
But the weatherman, oh what a jest,
Predicts a blizzard, what a mess.
Four to eight inches, wind at fifty,
A blizzard warning, oh so nifty!
No school tomorrow, that's the news,
Stay warm, stay safe, avoid the gloom.
So snuggle up, with hot cocoa in hand,
Enjoy the snow, it's quite grand!
The groundhog's forecast, a little amiss,
It's time to give winter a goodbye kiss!

It was another evening filled with energy as our 1st, 2nd, & 3rd graders performed under the direction of Mrs. Wieseler! The music, actions, and speaking parts were great!

3rd Quarter Report Cards are coming home today with all Dudley students!

The final performance of 6th grade as a class was as bright a "Firefly"! Great job 6th grade!

It was a wonderful evening of music provided by Mrs. Wieseler and the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. From a Patriotic Celebration to music that made you feel like dancing! Great job to everyone for a wonderful performance for parents, grandparents, and our community!

Dudley Elementary Families:
Save the Date! April 18, 2024 is our 2nd annual family night. This glowing event is free for families to attend and we have exciting activities planned. Come see us from 5:30pm - 7:00pm on April 18th!

In support of our Strategic Plan and Strategy 1.2... "create an environment that provides a social and emotional empowering culture for staff well-being"... GPS staff and family members had the opportunity to take a Self-Defense class. The class was offered through Central Community College and was taught by Beth Bauer (retired investigator for NSP) and Tucker Case (Lieutenant with the Dawson County Sheriff's Office). Participants learned the basics of Self-Defense, including ways to decrease the chances of becoming a target through situational awareness. They also learned... and then practiced... logical and effective ways to protect themselves. Thanks, Beth and Tucker, for a fun and engaging evening!

We are looking forward to a Fist Bump Friday @ Dudley Elementary with the Girls Tennis Team. Starting our day with a HIGH 5, HANDSHAKE, or FIST BUMP will bring so many smiles to our Friday!

We are excited to announce that Miss Elise Johnson will be joining our faculty as an Agriculture teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Miss Johnson graduated from Seward High School and attended South Dakota State University. She is currently student teaching at Gothenburg Public Schools and will graduate in May. Please help us in welcoming Miss Johnson to Gothenburg Public Schools!
