On 5/20/24, the Dudley Elementary students gathered in the grand stands for a fun assembly anticipating the SLIMING of either the Dynamic Duo (Mr. Dowdy & Mr. Bazata) or Admin (Mrs. McKenna & Mrs. Floyd). For every growth point from Fall to Spring on their NWEA MAP reading and math tests, students earned a VOTE for who they wanted to see slimed. Students who grew 15 or more RIT points were recognized during this special gathering. The reveal of who was to be slimed didn't occur until the final moment which kept EVERYONE is suspense! The pictures will speak volumes with who received the SLIME! We are SO PROUD of our students and the hard work throughout the year! Formal Votes: Admin: 2,731 / Dynamic Duo: 1,879

Please join us in celebrating Mrs. Vickie Keiser's well-deserved retirement from Gothenburg Public Schools! 🎉 Mrs. Keiser graduated from Syracuse High School, earned two degrees from UNL (graduating with her bachelor's degree in just 3 1/2 years!), and has been a pillar of commitment and dedication to Gothenburg Public Schools for 41 years... teaching just about every business class imaginable!!! She has also coached, served as a sponsor for many different organizations, and developed the first school website. When reflecting on her teaching career she says she is most thankful for those extra special moments when a student returned (after graduating) to tell her "thanks" for teaching them so many of the skills they needed for the "real world" (resume writing, understanding and problem-solving computer issues, etc.). Mrs. Keiser is pictured here with her Swede Foundations class. They threw her a SuRpRiSe party today to celebrate her retirement! Congratulations, Mrs. Keiser! 🌟👏

The parking lot at the Impact Center across the street from the school is not a public street. It is still an active construction site, so for your safety and the safety of the workers please do not use that parking lot to get around the road construction.

Today our Swede Branch Flatwater Bank tellers attended "Stellar Teller" day in Kearney on the UNK Campus. They joined students from other schools and had the opportunity to learn about financial literacy from Julia Cook, author of "I Am Money"! Students received a special certificate for being a teller during the 2023-2024 school year as well as a copy of the book "I Am Money"! They also enjoyed a special lunch at Pizza Ranch (compliments of Flatwater Bank). A big THANK YOU to Flatwater Bank employees for bringing this initiative to our school. Our students had the opportunity to build their leadership skills serving as tellers. Additionally, our Dudley Elementary students had the opportunity to open a savings account and learn about the importance of saving their money. Looking forward to continuing this program next school year and seeing our student's finances GROW!

As the Spring weather sets in, an increasing number of students are opting to walk or bike to school. Furthermore, extensive road construction is underway, leading to altered routes for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. Your vigilance is crucial: please exercise extra caution and adhere to our Dudley drop-off/pick-up guidelines to guarantee a secure transition to and from school each day. Your efforts in keeping our students safe are greatly appreciated!

We have another child who has accomplished the 1,000 Books Before the End of Kindergarten Challenge . Connor Knauss along with his parents Jake & Kayla have tackled the reading of 1,000 books. Connor's favorite book is "The Donkey Egg". His parents read to him and he thinks it is so fun to look at the pictures because of all of the colors. Way to go Connor!

High school mentors visit our elementary students throughout the week during their aiding periods. The smiles created by both the elementary and high school students capture the true bond they have built. Our mentor program just received STEM activities and books that strengthen the character traits taught in our weekly Swede Sessions that were purchased through an Applegate Grant funded by the Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation. These activities create a springboard for positive interactions between mentor and mentee while building critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Good morning! I wanted to provide you with an update for Monday, May 6th (Elementary Track & Field Day). We have been watching the weather forecast and it doesn’t appear that Mother Nature wants us to have our traditional Track & Field Day outdoors. Rain or shine we will have events planned for you and your child to attend and enjoy. We know and understand how many of you have marked this day on the calendar so that you can spend the day with your children. If the weather cooperates, we will move forward with our original plan of all of the events outdoors. Your child should have brought home a schedule of their events last week. Please check their backpacks. Please see the schedule that is attached (email and social media). If the weather forces us to be indoors, we are planning an adjusted schedule along with alternative activities that will be conducted indoors in the north and south gym on the high school side of the building. If this is the option we need to take, we will send an additional message out on Sunday evening with all of the details. Again, rain or shine we will move forward and make it a FUN day for our Dudley students and families. I want to send a huge thank you to Mr. Mahlberg along with the SPECIALS TEAM who have been working diligently to organize this big day as well as prepare the students for all of their events. Thank you, Mrs. Floyd

Students in 4th grade created their own covered wagon at home that could “ford a river” and hold the weight of an egg which represented the weight a covered wagon would have endured. The students did such a great job and the project really showcased their creativity!
