Mrs. Brown's 6th grade class recently had the opportunity to “feel” energy transfer between body heat and a cold paper towel. They have learned that this energy cannot be created or destroyed.

The Kindergarten classes had the exciting opportunity to host Michael Moritz, the Warning Coordination Meteorologist from the NOAA/NWA Weather Forecast Office in Hastings, NE. During his presentation, Mr. Moritz emphasized the importance of understanding the weather and its impact on our daily lives. He explained how meteorologists gather information to predict weather conditions, helping us prepare for various weather events.
To engage the students, Mr. Moritz brought a weather balloon, demonstrating how it functions and discussing various weather instruments used in forecasting. The students were thrilled to participate in a hands-on activity where they created an indoor thunderstorm, allowing them to experience weather phenomena firsthand.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mike for visiting Gothenburg Public Schools and teaching us about weather and meteorological tools.
